Deep brain stimulation, or DBS, has become commonly used for treatment of medically refractory movement disorders, particularly Parkinson disease, dystonia, and essential tremor. In this week's In Practice blog post, Bianca Belcher, a physician assistant in neurosurgery, provides an overview of the three most popular DBS surgical targets, including when and when not to stimulate them, and possible adverse effects with incorrect electrode placement.
