Ovarian Cancer Screening Not Advised in Draft USPSTF Recommendations
In a draft statement, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force has reaffirmed its recommendation against ovarian cancer screening in the general population.
The agency argues that screening does not lower ovarian cancer mortality and that false-positives could lead to unnecessary surgery. The recommendation does not apply to women with BRCA and other genetic mutations that increase ovarian cancer risk.
