FDA Clears First 7T MRI Device

By the Editors

The FDA has cleared the Magnetom Terra, the first seven-tesla (7T) magnetic resonance imaging device to be used in a clinical setting in the U.S. The agency says that the device's added field strength should provide better imaging of "smaller structures and subtle pathologies."

It is intended for imaging of the head and extremities.
