FDA Recommends Consumers Steer Clear of Pure Powdered Caffeine

By the Editors

The FDA is advising people not to use pure powdered caffeine after the death of a teenager. The powder is being sold directly to consumers in bulk bags online.

A teaspoon of the powder is equivalent to about 25 cups of coffee, and small amounts can easily lead to accidental overdose. Serious complications can include vomiting, diarrhea, stupor, disorientation, rapid heartbeat, seizures, and death.
