Washing after sex maybe a better alternative to circumcision. The risk of infection from any surgery should deter healthcare providers from performing surgery for any frivolous reason, especially when washing would do the trick.

HIV Prevention and Treatment Guidelines Released
By Kelly Young
The International AIDS Society-USA has released two sets of clinical guidelines on preventing and treating HIV, in conjunction with the AIDS 2014 conference and a special JAMA issue on HIV and AIDS.
Among the many recommendations:
All adolescents and adults should be tested for HIV at least once.
Self-testing and home testing may be an option for patients with recurrent HIV risk or difficulty with testing in a clinical environment.
Preexposure prophylaxis with daily emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate should be offered to certain high-risk patients, including those who've required postexposure prophylaxis more than twice in the past year.
For sexually active heterosexual males, voluntary male circumcision should be recommended, particularly in areas with a high prevalence of HIV. Circumcision should also be discussed with men who have sex with men.
Antiretroviral therapy should be offered to all patients with HIV, as soon as possible, regardless of their CD4 cell count.

Universal testing is not appropriate. This furthers the Orwellian intrusion of unelected rule makers into the lives of people. It forces people who live reponsibly to submit to this intrusion for the benefit of those who choose to live wrecklessly.
gr8 source to update our medical knowledge
Me agree with both, adding to Dr Samia, that thank god almost all Muslims in the world are circumcised and Every day we are discovering the greatfullness of our religion. Moreover homosexuality, specially gay people is among the high risk people and again all the book religions prohibited this, and this is again gift from God almighty but few are following.
I agree with Dr. William , who posted the above comment.
The disease can be prevented once human beings obey God almighty commands in regards to sexual relationship , who commanded us ( Christian , Jews and Muslims)not to go for extramarital relations ( adultery) , and allowed us to enjoy it only in a marital relationship .
The only guaranteed way to prevent infection with HIV from sexual activity is abstinence from this activity. It seems this very important fact was overlooked.
Pre - exposure prophylaxis for promiscuous individuals carries the very serious risk of engendering "resistance" with this virus. The prophylactic medications themselves also carry some level of risk. This also was not mentioned.
The costs of HIV treatment drugs are unreasonable. Adjusting down the cost of medications may greatly increase medication availability. This can help also.
