USPSTF Finalizes Recommendations on AAA Screening

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force has finalized its latest recommendations on screening for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in asymptomatic adults aged 50 and older.

The recommendation statement, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, includes one major change since the guidelines were last updated in 2005: in an "I statement," the USPSTF now says the evidence is insufficient to weigh the benefits and harms of screening in women aged 65 to 75 who've ever smoked. (The 2005 guidance clearly advised against routine screening for all women.)
