Ebola Appears in Guinea

By the Editors

The West African country of Guinea has seen up to 80 suspected cases of Ebola hemorrhagic fever — including 59 deaths — Reuters reports. Six of 12 samples tested positive for Ebola. This is the first time that the highly virulent virus has been recorded in Guinea.

It may have spread across the border to Sierra Leone, where patients have also reported symptoms consistent with Ebola.
