Nutrition Guidelines Issued for Patients with Diabetes

People with diabetes should receive individualized medical nutrition therapy to achieve their treatment goals, ideally from a registered dietitian soon after diagnosis, according to a position statement on nutrition from the American Diabetes Association.
The evidence-based recommendations, published in Diabetes Care and updated from 2008, note that only about half of patients with diabetes receive nutrition education and fewer see a registered dietitian.
For patients with type 1 diabetes, carbohydrate-counting meal planning can improve glycemic control.
The authors note that no one dietary pattern will work for all people. That said, dietary carbohydrates should come from vegetables, whole grains, fruits, legumes, and dairy. Patients with diabetes should try to avoid drinking sugar-sweetened beverages and restrict their sodium consumption to less than 2300 mg per day, the same as the general population.

Surprised this was included as it is Diabetes Nutrition generalized 101 with no new information that could be helpful that diabetics or those working with them would know about.
Regulating sugar intake is of the highest importance for Diabetes and Insulin resistance generally. I don't see what sodium has to do with it though.
I give a manual of what to eat to people with diabetes mellitus type 2 (DMT2)and their families. I use the recommended way of eating proven from hundred of people studied. Diets from doctors: Marx Gerson, Gabriel Cousens, Dean Ornish, Caldwell Esselstyn, Barnard, Bernstein, Heromi Sinya. The counting of carbohydrates, the register nutritionist confuse more than help. Doctors who take care of DMT2 should have these diets

Why not group class? Cost of 1:1 sessions prohibitive
the mention of irrelevant sodium and non-mention of weight loss, along with emphasis on sugar intake are 3 of the very poor pieces of diet advice that keep me from referring to dieticians in favor of giving my patients accurate information, in writing on how to lose weight = correct dietary advice. why do you keep publishing rubbish?
