About the NEJM Journal Watch Dermatology Board

Murad Alam, MD, MSCI, serves on the editorial boards of several medical journals and as a consultant to the General and Plastic Surgery Devices Panel of the FDA. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and various committees of the American College of Mohs Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and American Academy of Dermatology. His major interests are in cutaneous oncology, laser, and cosmetic surgery. His research focuses on the comparative efficacy, safety, patient tolerability, and cost of dermatologic surgery procedures, as well as on the clinical epidemiology of skin cancer in high-risk populations. Dr. Alam joined the NEJM Journal Watch Dermatology board in 2010 and served until the publication’s closure in 2016.
