F. Bruder Stapleton, MD, is the Ford/Morgan Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics, as well as Associate Dean at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He is also Chief Academic Officer/Senior Vice President at Seattle Children's Hospital, Seattle. His research interests have included quality improvement, academic workforce requirements, uric acid disorders, and urinary stone disease in children. His research identified hypercalciuria as a cause of hematuria in children. He is a former President of the American Pediatric Society and Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs. He is currently Chair of the Subspecialties Committee of the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Stapleton is the founding editor of NEJM Journal Watch Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and has served as Editor-in-Chief since its inception in 2002.
