Abigail Zuger, MD, is Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Senior Attending Physician at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center. She is a board-certified internist and infectious disease specialist with particular interest and expertise in HIV infection. Dr. Zuger writes frequently on medical topics for the New York Times and other national publications. Her book, Strong Shadows: Scenes from an Inner City AIDS Clinic, was published in 1995 by WH Freeman, NY. She has been writing for NEJM Journal Watch AIDS Clinical Care since the publication's launch in 1989 and for NEJM Journal Watch General Medicine since 1996.
